Feyenoord, last season's Dutch Cup winners, began their new campaign with a 5-4 penalty victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Johan Cruyff Shield. Despite a slow start in the league with only one win from the first four matches, they are now fourth in the Eredivisie, seven points behind leaders PSV.
